Daydreaming has often been thought of as a waste of time that is unproductive and for those who have nothing better to do. I disagree and believe that daydreaming has several advantages. For example, one can daydream about past events. Reflecting on pleasurable memories can be encouraging and uplifting. It helps you appreciate the good things that have happened and the people around that time. Achieving satisfaction and pleasure in life is good motivation to push ahead and try new things or develop better relationships.
Another area daydreaming can explore is future events such as scoring a goal in a hockey game. Visualization helps focus on the outcome and helps to see a way for it to happen. This is a very practical form of daydreaming in my opinion that can inspire confidence and planning.
Daydreaming is also a safe way to problem solve and combine information that has been learned. There are no boundries or barriers so you can draft an idea and edit it at will. You can get a sense of wheter something is for you or not. A potential time saver as I see it! Someone watching may think you are being lazy and unproductive, but the wheels are turning in your mind and that is bound to take you places.
Interesting topic and excellent points - you should take my creative writing class. We talk about the value of imagination!
