A reoccurring theme from the Odyssey is, Trust is the most important virtue.
In the Odyssey Trust is in every single book. When Odysseus returns home he talks to Athena, they were talking about his son and Athena said she personaly escorted him accross the sea and Odysseus calms down and trusts her. Page 300 Lines 479-481 "But the bright eyed goddess reassured him firmly: No need for anguish, trust me, not for him- I escorted your son myself." When Athena tells him that he is more at ease and not worrying about his son as much. It is always important to know who you can trust and who you cannot trust.
Odysseus Knows exactly who he can trust. When Odysseus returns home he know who he can still trust when he first sees his son.Page 339 Lines 16-19 "He dropped the bowls with a clatter" "straight to the prince rushed and kissed his face and kissed his shining eyes". When Odysseus saw his son he was overwhelmed with joy. A father should always be able to trust his son.
Odysseus trusts his son to help him fight against the suitors and help kill all of them. Telemachus did and always would trust his father because he was such a good father to him. Page 438 Lines 481-484 "Prince Telemachus son of King Odysseus, girding his sharp sword on, clamping hand to spear, took his stand by a chair that flanked his father- his bronze spearpoint glinting now like fire".Telemachus was ready to back up and fight with his father. Trust is very important when in a war or fight.
You provide good examples of people Odysseus can trust, but do not show how it is the MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE. That's what you need to explain further.
